Lloret de Mar projects two diametrically opposed images. On the one hand, the unrealistic one that some try to sell: "Nothing happens here, and everything is great." On the other hand, the palpable reality: an alarming decline affecting all aspects of life in the town, which residents suffer from daily.
Currently, Lloret has become synonymous with public insecurity. The Local Police force is insufficient, leading to minimal surveillance that fails to provide the peace, tranquility, and well-being that residents need. The streets are dirty, neglected, unsafe, and noisy. The sale of drugs has spread to various areas, youth incivility and binge drinking tourism have replaced family and quality tourism, and prostitution and uncontrolled nightlife are problems that worsen daily.
Lloret de Mar, once the international tourist icon of the Costa Brava, is no longer the magical city that captivated tourists and earned their loyalty. Today, family tourism with a solid economy has been replaced by uncontrolled and binge drinking tourism that severely affects neighborhood harmony and rest. This type of tourism, with limited economic resources, is noisy and generates a sense of insecurity that more and more residents perceive.
Incivility has taken over the streets, and the general feeling is that those who should be correcting this situation seem to live in another dimension, remaining impassive in the face of incomprehensible inaction. It is disheartening that most residents describe Lloret de Mar as a dirty, unsafe, and violent city. Prostitution, drugs, and crime are rampant, and the lack of police resources prevents order from prevailing, rendering ordinances little more than worthless paper.
In light of this situation, the residents of Lloret demand:
- Public security: an increase in local police officers, supplemented by the National Police, Mossos d'Esquadra, and Civil Guard forces.
- Peace and tranquility: ensuring the well-being and freedom that residents need.
- Clean and safe streets: free of noise and uncivil behavior.
- No to drug sales: taking action against drug distribution affecting various areas of the town.
- Action against youth incivility: curbing the uncontrolled and alcohol-fueled behavior of some youths.
- Rejection of binge drinking tourism: replacing it with family tourism and visitors with higher purchasing power.
- Eradication of prostitution: which is widespread in the city.
- Control over nightlife: implementing formats and schedules that eliminate incivility and ensure the tranquility of residents.
- Enforcement of ordinances: acting against those who violate them.
- Diversification of the tourist offer: to attract tourists throughout the year, not just in summer.
- Promotion of new business models: attracting national and foreign investment to guarantee the use of industrial land.
The insecurity plaguing Lloret is a problem that requires urgent and decisive solutions. It is crucial that local authorities recognize the severity of the situation and act effectively to restore residents' confidence in the well-being and future of the town. It is necessary to design and implement a roadmap that will eradicate crime and return Lloret to the tranquility and security it so desperately needs.
